Impurities
The amount of impurities depends on the characteristics of the oil field. In case of insufficient purification, a certain amount of sulfuric impurities is possible, which may cause an unpleasant odor and may affect the equipment, packaging, and properties of the end product.
Minimal impurities
Propelan® DME contains minimal amounts of impurities and has no irrelevant odor. External factors do not influence the quality of Propelan® DME. It is stable over the entire product life cycle.
Limited solvent ability, water-insoluble
Works as a solvent for usual, non-polar petroleum products, and does not work as a solvent regarding polar substances and complex chemical compounds. Almost entirely insoluble in water.
High solvent ability, water-soluble
Propelan® DME has a high solvent ability regarding both polar and non-polar substances, and the highest water-solubility among all known propellants; this enables altogether better properties of the products based on it.
Low-cost product
The LPG production method is quite simple, resulting in a low product price that correlates with the price of oil. More suitable for inexpensive formulations in terms of value (price/quality ratio).
Premium product
The synthesis of dimethyl ether takes a significant amount of raw materials and energy, which drives its cost. The price of dimethyl ether correlates with the price of methanol. In terms of value (price/quality ratio) it is suitable for the premium segment.
Standard formulations
May be used for the manufacture of products that do not require a high degree of purity and solubility of the propellant, and for aerosol products that do not require homogeneous media or finely dispersed aerosol spraying.
Wide range of formulations
Especially advantageous for the manufacture of products with high quality characteristics (e.g. purity, absence of impurities) as well as water-based products and compounds in which dimethyl ether is a propellant as well as a solvent of the active components of an aerosol or a foaming (expandable) material.
Impact level
HCP has zero global-warming potential or ozone-layer impact.
